Relativistic Effects in the Electromagnetic Current at GeV Energies

چکیده
We employ a recent approach to the non-relativistic reduction of the electromagnetic current operator in calculations of electronuclear reactions. In contrast to the traditional scheme, where approximations are made for the transferred momentum, transferred energy and initial momentum of the struck nucleon in obtaining an on-shell inspired form for the current, we treat the problem exactly for the transferred energy and transferred momentum. We calculate response functions for the reaction 2H(e, e′p)n at CEBAF (TJNAF) energies and find large relativistic corrections. We also show that in Plane Wave Impulse Approximation, it is always possible to use the full operator, and we present a comparison of such a limiting case with the results incorporating relativistic effects to the first order in the initial momentum of the struck nucleon. 25.30.Fj, 25.10+s Typeset using REVTEX

Relativistic NN scattering equations without partial-wave decomposition
Modern experimental facilities such as TJNAF and Julich are probing the baryonic structure and interactions at intermediate energies (∼ GeV), through electromagnetic and strong reactions involving high momentum transfer [1]. To describe the NN interaction in the intermediate energy range (∼ 300 MeV-1 GeV), particle production mechanisms have to be included. Relativistic effects became also impo...

One of the interesting Laser-Plasma phenomena, when the laser power is high and ultra intense, is the generation of large amplitude plasma waves (Wakefield) and electron acceleration. An intense electromagnetic laser pulse can create plasma oscillations through the action of the nonlinear pondermotive force. electrons trapped in the wake can be accelerated to high energies, more than 1 TW. Of t...
متن کاملFinal State Interactions and Relativistic Effects in Exclusive Electron Scattering from the Deuteron
For a quantitative description of exclusive electron scattering data at high energies, one has to take into account both relativistic effects and an appropriate description of final state interactions. In the rst part, we use a recent approach for the relativistic treatment of the electromagnetic current operator which does not involve an approximation in the transferred energy or transferred m...
متن کاملTrinucleon Electromagnetic Form Factors and the Light-Front Hamiltonian Dynamics
This contribution briefly illustrates preliminary calculations of the electromagnetic form factors of 3He and 3H, obtained within the Light-front Relativistic Hamiltonian Dynamics, adopting i) a Poincaré covariant current operator, without dynamical two-body currents, and ii) realistic nuclear bound states with S, P and D waves. The kinematical region of few (GeV/c)2, relevant for forthcoming T...

We investigate the reactions D(e, ep)n and D(~e, ep)n at GeV energies and discuss the opportunities to distinguish between different models for the nuclear ground state by measuring the response functions. In calculating the final-state interaction (FSI) we employ Glauber theory, and we also include relativistic effects in the electromagnetic current. We include not only the central FSI, but al...
